Antara yang menziarahi jenazahnya ialah Sasterawan Negara Datuk Shahnon Ahmad bersama keluarganya.

Allahyarham meninggal kira-kira pukul 7.50 pagi tadi.

Azizi, 69, dimasukkan ke Hospital Pulau Pinang sejak 26 Mac lalu untuk menjalani pembedahan jantung.

Beliau turut menjalani rawatan buah pinggang di hospital yang sama dan berada di hospital selama enam bulan sebelum meninggal dunia.

Isterinya Zubaidah Yusuff, 64, berkata ketika melawat Allahyarham di hospital semalam, Azizi berada dalam keadaan sihat walaupun lebih suka berehat dan tidur.

Allahyarham dilahirkan di Kampung Bukit Meriam, Kota Kuala Muda.

Beliau merupakan seorang pesara guru dan kemudiannya turut menjadi Ketua Editor Utusan Pengguna di Pulau Pinang.

Beliau meninggalkan dua orang anak perempuan iaitu Anita, 40 dan Azimah, 21.

Shahnon menyifatkan beliau telah kehilangan seorang sahabat karib yang banyak jasanya dalam dunia kesusasteraan negara di samping seorang penulis yang prolifik dan disegani di kalangan rakan-rakan.

Ia juga akan menjadikan rakyat paling mendapat keuntungan atas perkongsian ini. Selaras dengan hasrat 1Malaysia - rakyat didahulukan pencapaian diutamakan.

MENJELANG pilihanraya umum yang bakal diadakan bila-bila masa sahaja dari sekarang, Barisan Nasional sudah mula merasai kewujudan parti komponennya Gerakan, bagai "mendukung biawak hidup".

Pihak berkepentingan melancarkan gerakan untuk melemahkan pimpinan Najib Tun Razak bagi memastikan BN gagal mendapat majoriti dua per tiga Pilihanraya Umum 13 , sekaligus sebagai lesen untuk menggesa Najib meletak jawatan untuk memberi laluan kepada Muhyiddin Yassin

Parti Gerakan pula dilihat tidak akan mampu membawa apa-apa manfaat kepada Barisan Nasional, TV3 digunakan sebagai medium propaganda untuk menjatuhkan presiden parti itu untuk memecah belahkan Barisan Nasional.

Muhyiddin makin gah, Najib semakin lemah!

SUATU ketika, Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak memeranjatkan banyak pihak apabila dengan tidak semena-mena beliau mencadangkan ditubuhkan sebuah Jawatankuasa Terpilih Parlimen (PSC).

Tujuan dibentuk PSC ialah bagi mendapatkan persetujuan semua pihak, kerajaan dan pembangkang, ke atas reformasi dalam pilihan raya sebagai mengambil jalan tengah berikutan tuntutan lapan perkara yang diterajui oleh Bersih 2.0.

Tetapi pada ketika yang lain, tidak sampai 48 jam kemudian, beliau mengendurkan pandangannya dengan menyatakan tidak ada cacat celanya dengan sistem pilihan raya dewasa ini. Beliau hanya mencadangkan ditubuhkan PSC memandangkan beberapa pihak menuntut dibuat perubahan dalam sistem itu.

Sikap berdolak dalih yang sering berlaku daripada Najib, tidak sepatutnya menimbulkan kehairanan. Najib tidak akan berkata demikian jika timbalannya Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin tidak mengeluarkan kenyataan yang bercanggah dengannya dengan menyatakan pilihan raya di Malaysia sentiasa berjalan dengan baik.

Cadangan PSC oleh Perdana Menteri itu kata Muhyiddin, hanyalah untuk memperbaiki proses pilihan raya. Kenyataan terbuka Muhyiddin pada 16 Ogos lalu, datang sehari sebelumnya, merupakan suatu tamparan yang hebat kepada Najib.

Langkah berani reformasi pilihan raya

Najib nampak ikhlas apabila mengumumkan cadangan PSC itu pada 15 Ogos, apabila beliau berkata:

“Jawatankuasa itu akan berbincang mengenai reformasi dalam sistem pilihan raya yang perlu dilaksanakan bagi mencapai persetujuan yang tidak berat sebelah tanpa apa-apa keraguan bahwa wujudnya manipulasi daripada pihak kerajaan.”

Najib juga menekankan bahawa pentadbirannya tidak akan dibentuk kecuali benar-benar dipilih oleh rakyat.

Kenyataan-kenyataan ini bermakna beliau mengakui terdapatnya kelemahan dalam struktur pilihan raya dan kepincangan ini sudah cukup untuk membentuk sebuah Jawatankuasa Terpilih Parlimen.

Dan keazaman Najib untuk mendapatkan persetujuan dan memerintah hanya jika “benar-benar dipilih oleh rakyat” merupakan manifestasi dari keinginan untuk memperbetulkan kesilapan yang sudah sekian lama menunggu untuk diperbaiki.

Dalam menghadapi keberanian usaha untuk memberi sedikit nafas lega kepada sistem demokrasi di negara ini yang dapat diterima oleh seluruh rakyat, kenyataan Muhyiddin yang bercanggah dengan bosnya memeranjatkan banyak pihak.

Tetapi apa yang lebih memeranjatkan ialah apabila Najib membuat pusingan U supaya selari dengan pandangan timbalannya apabila beliau mengulangi kenyataan Muhyiddin bahawa sistem pilihan raya kita adalah telus dan boleh dipercayai.

Bercakap pada satu majlis berbuka puasa pada 17 Ogos lalu, Najib menafikan bahawa cadangan PSC ini merupakan satu pengakuan terhadap kelemahan yang terdapat dalam pilihan raya.

Seterusnya beliau berkata, “kita akan memperbaiki proses pilihan raya, jika ianya dipertikaikan. Kita tidak mempertikaikannya tetapi untuk memuaskan hati .

Setengah-tengah pihak, kita akan laksanakan beberapa perubahan dalam sistem itu.” Kenyataan yang tidak bertenaga ini tidak layak buat seorang Perdana Menteri. Jika tidak ada kesilapan, mengapa perlu diubah?

Membuat perubahan hanya kerana ada orang membuat aduan? Tidakkah Perdana Menteri mempunyai pendirian dan pegangannya sendiri?

Membentuk sebuah PSC adalah perkara serius yang berlaku apabila timbul perkara-perkara yang tersangat penting yang perlu dibahas secara terperinci di Parlimen.

Adalah suatu tindakan yang dangkal apabila Perdana Menteri mencadangkan jalan penyelesaian seperti itu dibuat terhadap aduan-aduan berkenaan dengan sistem pilihan raya, yang menurut pendapatnya adalah baik.

Sudah pasti seorang Perdana Menteri tidak bermaksud seperti apa yang beliau katakan – membentuk PSC semata-mata untuk menutup mulut para pengkritik.

Terpaksa membuat pusingan U

Dalam hal ini, tidakkah jelas bahawa Perdana Menteri tunduk kepada pendirian Timbalan Perdana Menteri yang bersikap tegas?

Mengimbas kembali pentadbiran selama dua tahun Najib, tidak dapat tidak kita melihat permulaannya agak gah tetapi sedikit demi sedikit berakhir dengan lemah dan pendiriannya yang teragak-agak, sama seperti perdana menteri sebelumnya, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Perubahan-perubahan yang hendak dilakukan oleh Najib kelihatan betul, reformasi politik di bawah panji-panji 1Malaysia untuk menyatupadukan rakyat dan transformasi ekonomi melalui menggugurkan perlindungan dan bantuan yang berasaskan bangsa bagi memulihkan ekonomi.

Tetapi beberapa siri kenyataan yang bersifat sombong dan degil daripada kalangan anggota partinya (Umno) sendiri telah membawa kepada transformasi hanya berbentuk slogan semata-mata.

Ditengah-tengah kekecewaan ini, sikap Najib yang secara tiba-tiba mahu membuat perubahan dalam pilihan raya dilihat sebagai langkah strategik untuk meraih kembali keyakinan dari golongan masyarakat menengah.

Beliau bimbang kehilangan sokongan dari golongan masyarakat ini memandangkan beliau telah memberi amaran keras terhadap gerakan Bersih 2.0 terutamanya, dan kekejaman dan ketidakadilan semasa menangani isu perhimpunan Bersih.

Namun masih belum terlambat, jika Najib dapat menggunakan pengaruhnya sebagai Perdana Menteri bagi membawa perubahan yang bermakna dalam sistem pilhan raya yang telah kehilangan kredibilitinya.

Kuasa PM

Tambalan pula, seorang Perdana Menteri diberi kuasa penuh oleh Perlembagaan untuk melantik atau menggugurkan anggota kabinetnya.

Sebarang usaha ke arah memulihkan perlembagaan sudah pasti akan disokong dan mendapat sokongan daripada bukan sahaja mereka yang berfikiran waras dalam partinya tetapi juga sokongan dari golongan lain termasuk ahli-ahli pembangkang.

Memperbetulkan kesalahan-kesalahan dalam sistem pilihan raya tidak semestinya menjejaskan partinya, tetapi kesan penerimaan baik dan penghormatan yang terhasil dari tindakan ini (yang tentunya berupa undi), lebih dari cukup untuk menggantikan undi yang hilang.

Di samping itu, menang atau kalah, Najib akan menerima kedudukan yang mulia dalam sejarah Malaysia sebagai seorang Perdana Menteri yang telah berjasa kerana memulihkan demokrasi dan sistem pilihan raya bagi rakyatnya.

Syarikat Filipina San Miguel beli saham Esso

PEMBELIAN saham beberapa aset hiliran Esso oleh San Miguel Corp, menimbulkan beberapa persoalan. Pembelian saham itu bernilai USD 610 juta, suatu jumlah kurang dari nilai harga pasaran serta menyebabkan sahamnya merudum sebanyak 18% semalam.

Sungguhpun jumlah itu barangkali berasaskan alasan komersial, namun ianya memberi tamparan buat pemegang saham minoriti kerana jualan kurang dari nilai pasaran tersebut. Saya menggesa semua yang terbabit termasuk Suruhanjaya Sekuriti dan Badan Pemerhati Pemegang Saham Minoriti untuk meneliti pembelian tersebut demi memastikan kepentingan pemegang saham minoriti tidak terjejas.

Saya juga perihatin apabila beberapa aset utama seumpama kompleks pemprosesan serta stesyen petrol diambil alih oleh syarikat yang hampir tiada pengalaman berurusan di Malaysia.

San Miguel menempa nama di negara ini hanya apabila anak mantan Perdana Menteri, Mirzan Mahathir dilantik sebagai pengarah konglomerat tersebut selepas membeli 19.9% saham yang bernilai RM 2.9 billion.

Sungguhpun Mirzan Mahathir telah meletak jawatan sebagai ahli lembaga pengarah San Miguel Corp pada April 2010, dia masih memegang jawatan sebagai pengarah Petron Corporation, syarikat bersekutu San Miguel yang memiliki jaringan pusat pemprosesan serta edaran petrol di Filipina.

Justeru, tidak hairanlah persoalan muncul berkaitan pembelian saham aset sektor hiliran Esso tersebut samada semata-mata menguntungkan pihak Mirzan Mahathir. Manakala itu saudaranya Mohkzani Mahathir mendapat manfaat besar dari sektor huluan industri petroleum dan gas melalui Kenchana Petroleum; terutamanya ayahnya masih merupakan penasihat PETRONAS.

Pembelian tersebut juga memunculkan beberapa persoalan terhadap iltizam pentadbiran negara untuk memupuk budaya tadbir urus korporat yang lebih tegas. Dunia korporat wajar menuruti amalan ketelusan dan pertanggungjawaban sekaligus meninggalkan amalan korporat yang merugikan rakyat sepertimana yang menjadi kebiasaan sistem payung pimpinan Umno-Barisan Nasional.

SEJAK MiLo SuaM menyiarkan sebuah dokumen skrip sumpah warga asing (PATI) yang diambil oleh wanita KEADILAN semalam, heboh blogger United Malays No Otak menghentam MiLo SuaM di blog-blog mereka [Skrip Sumpah].

Dengan bangganya mereka mengistiharkan MiLo SuaM kantoi buat fitnah yang maha besar di bulan ramadhan. Mereka kata MiLo SuaM mencipta salinan sumpah yang tak wujud, sebaliknya salinan skrip sumpah mereka pulak adalah yang sahih lagi betul.

ReJaM© sebenarnya malas nak layan blogger United Malays No Otak punya propaganda murahan, tapi memandangkan ramai rakan-rakan blogger dan pembaca yang suruh jawab maka ReJaM© jawab jugalah.

Sifirnya mudah, dia nak buat cerita kononnya MiLo SuaM tipu, untuk tunjukkan kepada pembaca dia pulak jujur hohoho. Pembaca boleh nilai sendiri, sama ada dokumen skrip sumpah tersebut direka oleh MiLo SuaM atau tidak?

ReJaM© dah tulis terang-terang bahawa dokumen atau salinan skrip sumpah itu diambil di portal Keadilan Daily, malah ReJaM© letakkan link sumber dari mana gambar itu diambil. Maka tidak timbul isu ReJaM© reka atau tidak, sangat jelas hal itu.

Jadi di manakah rasionalnya blogger United Malays No Otak ini mendakwa kononnya MiLo SuaM kantoi buat fitnah di bulan Ramadhan? Ops lupa mereka "No Otak" kah kah kah.

Apa yang lebih melucukan, blogger United Malays No Otak ini pula tampil dengan bukti sendiri yang dikatakan sahih. Dokumen sumpah ini dikatakan dari maklumat sahih (Tiada link sumber? Sumber tidak didedahkan?) kononnya inilah dokumen sebenar, MiLo SuaM tipu, dia je betul kah kah kah.

Makcik Zuraidah pergi ke sebuah pasar di Ampang dan terbeli seekor ikan busuk, seorang blogger United Malays No Otak tampil menuduh Makcik Zuraidah pembohong!

Kata blogger tersebut "Bohong Makcik Zuraidah bohong! Ikan di pasar adalah ikan yang segar bugar!" sambil menunjukkan bukti ikan yang segar bugar di tangannya, dibeli dari salah sebuah pasar yang tidak diketahui.

Makcik Zuraidah beli ikan di pasar Ampang, ko pulak beli ikan di pasar yang tak diketahui, mana sama dol kah kah kah! Kalau nak beli ikan busuk kena pergi pasar Ampang juga kah kah kah! Ops lupa blogger ini dari Kesatuan Melayu Tiada Otak (United Malays No Otak).

Masih Hidup Setelah Ditikam Lapan Kali Dan Dicampak Ke Hutan

Kuala Pilah – Berpantang maut sebelum ajal! Begitulah yang terjadi kepada seorang lelaki berusia 29 tahun yang masih bernyawa walaupun ditikam sebanyak lapan kali di badannya sebelum dicampak di dalam hutan di Jalan Bukit Putus di sini pada Khamis lalu.

Lebih mengejutkan apabila lelaki terbabit yang tersedar dari pengsan pada pagi Jumaat lalu itu masih berupaya berjalan sejauh beberapa kilometer sebelum diselamatkan oleh orang ramai di Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah semalam.

Sumber berkata, lelaki dikenali sebagai Arman Shah itu diselamatkan oleh orang ramai yang menemui mangsa dalam keadaan berlumuran darah dan separuh sedar sebelum menghubungi ambulans.

“Mangsa dihantar ke Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar (HTJ) Seremban dekat sini dan kakitangan di wad kecemasan terkejut selepas mendapati lelaki itu masih hidup walaupun terdapat lapan kesan tikaman pada badannya.

“Mangsa sempat menceritakan yang dia tidak sedarkan diri selepas diserang dua lelaki yang dikenalinya dengan menggunakan pisau pada petang Khamis lalu di Bahau, dekat sini,” katanya di sini semalam. -kosmo

Merangkak keluar hutan

KUALA PILAH: Berpantang maut sebelum ajal perumpamaan sesuai bagi seorang lelaki apabila berjaya menyelamatkan diri selepas ditikam lapan kali di dada dan belakang badan dengan pisau sebelum dicampak ke dalam Hutan Lipur Ulu Bendul, Bukit Putus, di sini Khamis lalu.

Mangsa dikenali sebagai Arman Shah, 29, hanya tersedar setelah dua hari kejadian dan dalam kesakitan dan kehilangan banyak darah kerana kecederaan parah akibat tikaman di badannya itu berjaya merangkak keluar dari hutan itu.

Menurut sumber, selama sehari mangsa berusaha mencari jalan keluar dari hutan itu sebelum sampai ke jalan raya, tetapi malang kerana hasrat mendapatkan bantuan daripada orang ramai yang menggunakan jalan berkenaan tidak tercapai kerana tidak seorang pun mahu memberikan bantuan.

Difahamkan, berikutan itu Arman dalam keadaan lapar, dahaga dan lesu selain menahan kesakitan, terpaksa berjalan tiga kilometer ke sebuah stesen minyak di Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah.

Menurut sumber, mangsa sampai di stesen minyak itu dalam keadaan nyawa-nyawa ikan dan meminta orang ramai menghubungi ambulans.

“Mangsa kemudian dibawa ke Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban (HTJS) bagi rawatan segera di wad kecemasan,” katanya.

Menurut sumber itu, mangsa dipercayai ditikam menggunakan pisau oleh dua kenalannya di Bahau.

“Kami percaya dua rakannya itu berdendam dengan mangsa dan menyangka dia sudah mati lalu mencampak nya ke dalam hutan.

“Kita masih lagi menyiasat tempat kejadian dan mengenal pasti dua suspek utama yang melakukannya,” katanya. Menurutnya, hasil siasatan setakat ini polis tidak menolak motif samun berikutan tiada barang atau wang mangsa yang hilang.

Koh available versus the leadership dispute

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon is ready to 'fight' with the parties if they continue to dispute the credibility to lead the party, especially in Penang.

He said the authorities in and outside the party who criticized his leadership are those who are not satisfied, often protest and action that pollutes reputation.

"Wait, if there is another attack we will consider the strategy (fight back) and implement that strategy," he told reporters after opening the Gerakan Party Representative Conference of Perak, in Ipoh today.

He was commenting on the target number of parties, including Bayan Baru MP Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohd Hashim, who claimed Koh was no longer relevant to lead Gerakan in Penang and is seen as a liability to the party.

On the alleged movement is becoming more "sink" under his leadership, Koh said the party was being rebuilt after the political tsunami in 2008 and the process of rebuilding that demand more energy, patience and time.

He said the party was getting encouragement and support when the 27.000 new members, including four members of the Legislative Assembly (state assemblymen) Free has joined the party in the country since the general election to 12 in March 2008.

He said all party members to continue serving the people and not be clever "play movie".

KOTA BARU, Malaysia - Kelantan Women, Family and Health committee chairman Wan Ubaidah Omar suggested that awards be given to assemblymen for marrying single mothers should they decide to take another wife.

Her suggestion drew support from backbenchers. All of them men who started thumping their palms on the table at the Kelantan State Assembly on Wednesday.
She said the assemblymen could increase their quota to help single mothers with young children and it would help greatly if the assemblymen assisted by marrying them.
Her statement prompted house speaker Nassuruddin Daud to ask Wan Ubaidah to explain the word “quota.”
“What I meant by quota is the number of wives; awards should be given to learned House members who take the lead in doing this and also for those who have already married single mothers.
“This would help to reduce the number of single mothers in the state,” she said in reply to a question by Hassan Mahmood (PAS-Tawang), who had asked what was being done to reduce the number of divorce cases and what efforts were being taken by the state government to help single mothers.
To a supplementary question, Wan Ubaidah said that based on state records, there were 16,500-registered single mothers below the age of 60 in Kelantan and this figure did not include those who had been left in the lurch by their husbands.
She said one dilemma facing some single mothers in Kelantan and the country as a whole was that many of them could not register at the Welfare Department or related agencies because their husbands had left them without filing for divorce.
She said that she agreed with the call by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Nik Mat to whip irresponsible husbands who left their wives high and dry without any reason.
She said Kelantan spent RM2mil annually to look after the welfare of single mothers who had no source of income.
“Apart from that, we have organised entrepreneurial workshops to help single mothers earn a living.
“The government has also organised talks to educate the immediate families of single mothers to take the initiative to help and not leave them alone to fend for themselves.
“We have had similar educational talks for husbands who had divorced their wives to encourage them to pay alimony to help their ex-wives get on with their lives,” she added.

KUALA TERENGGANU, Malaysia - A young grandmother was charged in the magistrates’ court, for a drug trafficking offence that allegedly took place at the public toilet of the Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT) bus station, last Thursday.
Harini Che Soh, 43, from Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, a single mother with four children and a grandchild, who was detained with 83gm of heroin at 6am at the bus station, was charged under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence if convicted.

However, no plea was recorded when the charge was read before magistrate Wan Nor Aklima Wan Salleh.
Wan Nor Aklima later set Aug 23, for the case to be heard and no bail was allowed.
Last Thursday, police detained Harini and another single mother, believed to be her colleague, aged 30, from Kuala Lumpur, during a raid at the bus station.

"I can confirm that two members of our crew shown in compromising situations in photographs published recently in Chinese-language daily newspapers are no longer employees of the company. I know that many people were disturbed by the damage this incident caused to the reputation of our cockpit and cabin crews.“Cathay chief executive John Slosar said in a statement released late on Friday.
It was not clear whether the pair were sacked or resigned voluntarily, as the airline said it would not disclose details.
The airline also refused to say whether the incident took place in the plane's cockpit, but said the investigation found no evidence to suggest the act happened on any of its flights while airborne.
Cathay said the findings of the investigation would be submitted to the city's aviation authorities.
The photos prompted action from the Hong Kong flag carrier after they were circulated on an online forum for pilots and later attracted the attention of local media.

The unidentified man in the photo was reported to be a pilot but was not wearing a Cathay pilot's uniform, has reportedly told a local newspaper that the photos had been stolen from his personal computer.
Cathay Pacific has 13,000 staff around the world, including more than 8,000 cabin crew and 4,000 working in airports, according to its website.
